The Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), has given details of a helicopter which lost control and crashed in the Oba Akran, Ikeja area of Lagos State on Tuesday.
Permanent Secretary, LASEMA, Dr. Femi Oke-Osanyintolu in a statement sent to THE WITNESS said that the helicopter crash-landed in front of the United Bank of Africa, near FO Filling Station on Oba-Akran Road, in Ikeja.
He said two persons including the pilot had been rescued alive.
According to the statement: “The agency has activated its disaster response plan to the above incident which occurred around 1600hrs.
“The helicopter registered 5NCCQ was finally confirmed to contain 2 passengers and it has been safely removed from the road which is now free for vehicular movement.
“All two casualties have been retrieved from the aircraft alive. They have been transferred to hospital for further care.
“The area has been cordoned off and is being blanketed to prevent a secondary incident. All Emergency Responders are on scene.”
Osanyintolu later said the accidented helicopter was evacuated from the scene around 5:30pm.
“All Emergency Responders are now departing the scene. Further investigation to be carried out by NCAA,” he added.
