Uduaghan: Ijaw Nation should call Sheriff Mulade to order, By Samuel Meyiwa Khalil

When our parts first crossed, Sheriff Mulade, a self acclaimed activisit posed as a man of peace coupled with his yearly hosting of Ijaw and Itsekiri Unity Peace cup.

This, to me, was a way of bridging the gap between Ijaw and Itsekiri, who has been enjoying very fragile peace. As a Local Government Secretary in Warri North, a local government of Ijaw and Itsekiri, we have tried to promote peace and mutual respect for one another, and this will continue.

For an Ijaw man from Warri South West who has been an advocate of peace to continue in this stride; rather than engage in dragging an Itsekiri man to court who left government over 8 years ago and subjected to several anti-graft investigation and questioning on how he managed the affairs of the state and given a clean bill is very disturbing.

I recall that in 2013, the then former governor, Dr Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan openly accused the first chairman of Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC) of corruption and looting of the commissions resources as can be seen in this Link. https://saharareporters.com/

Sherrif Mulade wouldn’t see anything wrong in dragging Wellington Okrika alongside an Itsekiri man because Okrika is an Ijaw man..

May I ask that, if Dr. Uduaghan was an Ijaw man, would Sherrif Mulade drag him to court? The answer is no! He should point out one Ijaw man he has ever taken to court on any issues concerning the development of his people?

They had the chairman of the commission on two occasions. They have had several Executive Directors, several Desopadec commissioners. Can Mulade point to one he has dragged to court? No, he won’t. They are Ijaws! But for Itsekiri, he takes delight.

I am not an advocate of crisis, as I have always been a proponent of peaceful coexistence and mutual respect for one another in our area. God didn’t make a mistake putting Ijaw and Itsekiri together, and there is nothing anyone can do about it. We either continue to live as brothers or perish as fools.

I am therefore using this medium to appeal to well meaning son’s and daughters to call Mulade to order, Itsekiris will not fold their harms to see Mulade attempt in any guise try to rubbish our illustrious and respected leader. We will not!

– Samuel Meyiwa Khalil is the current secretary of the Warri North Local Government Council of Delta State.
