Heralding the Local Govt elections in 2021, most people didn’t know the man Smart Asekutu, but he shone like a million star since he became the Chairman of Warri North Local Government Council of Delta State.
Warri North is predominantly a local Government council of Itsekiris and Ijaws.
When the idea to allow an Ijaw indegene to become local government chairman was conceived, alot of people had reservations because it was certainly going to be the first time an Ijaw man would be LGA chairman.
Some people kicked and expressed fears, however, Asekutu has disappointed most nasayers by being a detribalized man who has taken the interest of all tribes, race and tongue living in Warri North as one. One wonders why he has been able to achieve alot in the very first term.
The interest of Itsekiris and Ijaws has been his focal point. As Secretary to the local Government, working with Capt Smart Asekutu has been a learning curve.
Haven displayed high level of administrative acumen in the last years; Capt Smart Asekutu will go down in history as one of the Most performed Local Government council Chairmen in Delta state, this was affirmed by the Federal Government through the Federal ministry of Special Duties and Inter- Governmental affairs, when he bagged an award as the most performed Chairman in Delta state at the International Conference Center, Abuja.
As if this wasn’t enough, it is also Worthy of note that, aside his sterling performance in infrastructural development, the National Union of Local Government Employees NULGE Warri North chapter, honoured him with an award and passed a Vote of Confidence on him. This is largely because the staff welfare has been one of his top priorities..
Suffice to say that, his detribalized nature has been felt in the 20 DSIEC wards in Warri North, this was made possible by the Councilors who identified Constituency projects in their various wards and where Commissioned to take development to their people by the council Chairman. As I speak, the local Govt council has Constituency projects spread across all the wards in Warri North.
Finally, while he has assured the Good people of Warri North that he was going to finish Strong, these are some of the projects completed and others ongoing in the local Government..
1. Renovation of the Local Government council Lodge.
2. Purchase of 140Kva Generator for the Local Government council Secretariat.
3. Purchase of 500Kva generator for Tsekelewu community.
4. Construction and completion of Jetty at Ubagboro.
5. Construction and completion of health center at Ubagboro.
6. Construction of portable Water in Okogho
7. Purchase of 200Hsp Speed boat for the local Government.
8. Provision of hospital equipment for health centers across Warri North.
9. Construction of one Storey building at the local Government council Secretariat.
10. Fencing of the local Government council Secretariat.
11. Construction of Canteen at the Local Govt council Secretariat.
12. Renovation of the local Government council Secretariat.
13. Provision of street lights in Gbokoda.
This and many more too numerous to mention..
On this note, as the secretary to Warri North Local Government council and the Secretary of all Delta State Local Government Secretaries, I am using this medium to pass a VOTE of CONFIDENCE on the executive Chairman of Warri North, Hon capt Smart Asekutu for his unrelenting effort in bringing the dividend of democracy to the Good people of Warri North..
