Following the successful release of an epic Yoruba movie on Netflix by Nollywood star, Femi Adebayo, Nigerians have taken rounds on social media to laud the seasoned producer over his remarkable success.
The movie, ‘Jagun Jagun’, translated to English as ‘The Warrior’, centred on projecting the richness of the Yoruba culture to the global audience.
Meanwhile, the Nollywood star a few weeks ago while announcing the movie with a trailer, said the dream of the new project was to surpass the achievements recorded by his 2022 epic movie, ‘Agensikole’.
Besides, The release of ‘Jagun Jagun’ on Netflix continues to stir reactions from social media users. It tells the story of a warlord (Ogundiji), who feels threatened by the potential of a young warrior school student (Gbotija).
The movie which was produced by Femi Adebayo and co-directed by his brother, Tope Adebayo, and Adebayo Tijjani, featured top Nollywood actors such as his father, Adebayo Salami, Dele Odule, Yinka Quadri, Muyiwa Ademola, Odunlade Adekola, Fathia Balogun, Lateef Adedimeji, and Femi Adebayo himself, among others.
Reacting to the movie on Twitter, Olorilfc wrote, “The movie is top-notch. All the actors delivered. There was no dull moment from start to finish. Kudos to Femi Adebayo and Lateef Adedimeji. 10/10 for me.”
@Ikaptainkush tweeted, “Jagun Jagun” by Femi Adebayo is a strong 10/10. Great choreography, and a great storyline. Epic production. It kept me on the edge of my seat until the end. I love this new direction Nollywood is taking. This movie is reminiscent of the movie “Troy,” with themes of war and the battle for supremacy.”
“Jagun Jagun” is a great movie. I loved every scene, and there was no unnecessary drama. The plot twist was amazing, and I really didn’t want the movie to end. I’m waiting for the concluding part because this movie is worth a second part,” @Baloguntoyyibat posted.
@Bodrepublik tweeted, “Jagun Jagun” is a great movie, culturally energetic, and I’m pretty sure no Nollywood movie has portrayed such realistic violent action before.”
However, another social media user, @tyewoolove, wrote: “I just finished the movie. I screamed. This movie is so good. It’s been a long while since I’ve been excited about Yoruba movies. No, no, it’s so so good.”
