Nigeria Police Force undergoes major restructuring: 40 Senior officers redeployed

In a significant development within the Nigeria Police Force, a total of 40 senior police officers, including 14 Assistant Inspectors-General of Police (AIGs) and 26 Commissioners of Police, have been redeployed to lead various Commands and formations across the country.
Among the reshuffled officers is CP Olatunji Disu, who previously served as the Principal Staff Officer to the Inspector-General of Police, IGP Kayode Egbetokun, and as the former Commander of the Rapid Response Squad in Lagos. CP Disu has now been assigned to head the Rivers State Police Command.
The Police High Command, as outlined in a statement signed by its Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, justified the posting and redeployment by emphasizing the need for a professionally competent, service-driven, rule-of-law-compliant, and people-friendly Police Force. This move also aligns with the elevation of senior officers to their next ranks.
The redeployed AIGs include Ogundele Joshua Ayodeji (Zone 7 Abuja), Patrick Edung (Zone 11 Osogbo), Badru Lawal (Border Patrol Force headquarters), Bartholomew Onyeka (Zone 8 Lokoja), Suleiman Yusuf (DOPS FHQ), Idowu Owohunwa (Force Criminal Investigation Department, FCID Annex Alagbon, Lagos), Rhoda Adetutu Olofu (Maritime Lagos), Godwin N. Aghaulor (Zone 13 Ukpo Dunukofia Awka), and Effiom Emmanuel Ekot (ONSA Abuja), among others.
Additionally, the 26 newly posted or redeployed Commissioners of Police include George Chijioke (Benue State), Ahmed Abdullahi Tijani (Jigawa State Police Command), Dan Shawulu (Niger State Police Command), Usman Hayatu (Gombe State Police Command), Danjuma Aboki (Imo State Police Command), and Joseph Eribo (Taraba State), among others.
IGP Egbetokun urged the officers to align with the Force’s policies, support the government’s agenda for economic recovery and growth, and contribute to the socio-political development of the country. The immediate effect of these postings emphasizes the urgency and commitment to the new strategic alignments within the Nigeria Police Force.
