After nine years in the cooler, the fifth edition of the Nigeria Gospel Music Awards, has been slated to hold in November, 2023, at the Shell Hall of the prestigious Muson Center, Lagos.

This was revealed last week at a media event held in Ikeja, Lagos.

The organisers also revealed that the event, has been rebranded from Nigeria Gospel Music Awards to the Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards (NIGMA), a move they said was in recognition of the ever-expanding reach and influence of Nigerian gospel music on the global stage.

Unveiling the new NIGMA logo, Kingsley Omoefe, Team Lead/ Chief Responsibility Officer of the awards ceremony informed that “The transformation aligns with our vision to celebrate and promote the exceptional talents of Nigerian gospel music artists on a global scale. The new logo embodies our commitment to excellence, unity, and the profound impact of Nigerian gospel music worldwide.”

Omoefe also invited all stakeholders, including gospel music artistes, industry professionals, sponsors, and music enthusiasts, to embrace this exciting new chapter. According to him, “the Nigeria International Gospel Music Awards will serve as a platform to foster connections, inspire collaborations, and celebrate the incredible musical heritage of Nigeria.”

The Project Director of the event, Victor Igbinigie (gospogroove) stated that the awards ceremony will continue its tradition of honoring outstanding achievements in the gospel music industry. “The revamped awards ceremony will showcase remarkable talents across various categories, recognising artists, songwriters, producers, and other contributors, who have made significant contributions to the genre’s growth and influence.”

Personalities at the event include, Victor Igbinigie (gospogroove) project director, Peter Boyo Head of Strategy, Onyika Emmanuel(Mc Senator), head of planning and events, Mary Boyo Omoefe Head, admin and projects, Tshewo Boyo MD Abel Sell Ltd makers Frizz water and Cocosheen products and Dr. Shaibu Hussein(member BOA).
