Controversial Nigerian singer Abdulazeez Fashola, widely known as Naira Marley, and his associate Samson Elutu, also known as Sam Larry, have been granted bail after weeks in detention.
However, the bail conditions are stringent, requiring three sureties to provide a substantial sum of N20 million.
Furthermore, as part of their bail conditions, Naira Marley and Sam Larry must surrender their international passports and make weekly appearances at the State Criminal Investigation Department (CID).
The Magistrate also issued a stern warning against any attempts to contact Mohbad girlfriend and child directly, stating that all such efforts would be recorded and potentially disclosed during open court proceedings.
This development follows allegations of physical assault on the late singer Mohbad, which led to the initial detention of Naira Marley and Sam Larry by the police.
Last week, they filed a lawsuit against the Magistrate and the police, seeking N20 million each in damages.
This legal action has sparked discussions, with some supporting their stance while others have pointed out that they were initially accused of murder, justifying their detention.
The Magistrate Court in Yaba, Lagos, had remanded Naira Marley and Sam Larry on October 4, 2023, over allegations of bullying the late former Marlian Music signee Mohbad.
While the Lagos State Police Command had requested a 30-day remand, the Magistrate ruled for a 21-day remand instead.
