Over 20 residents of Okija community in Anambra state have reportedly lost their lives in a stampede during distribution of Christmas palliative especially rice and other consumables.
The Witness understands that the stampede occurred on Saturday morning during an event for the distribution of rice at Nestoil founder, Chief Earnest Azudialo Obiejesi home in Okija.
Multiple social media videos show lifeless bodies laying on the ground after the incident.
The victims of the stampede have been deposited at Our Ladies Mortuary, Okija,
