Premier League side, Liverpool have agreed to pay a British record transfer fee of £111 million to Brighton for their Colombian midfielder Moises Caicedo.
Chelsea had submitted bids for the midfielder, which were rejected.
Brighton had set a fee in excess of £100 million for Caicedo and a deadline for midnight on Thursday for bids to come in.
The Blues eventually bid £100 million for the Ecuador international, but were outdone by the Reds, who tabled an extra £10 million.
Skysports reports that Caicedo is now free to go for a medical in Liverpool on Friday with all the formalities of a transfer now in motion.
Jurgen Klopp’s side is seeking midfield reinforcements following the exits of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
Chelsea who lost Liverpool on Sunday, need to strengthen in midfield after losing Mason Mount, N’Golo Kanté, Jorginho, Ruben Lofus-Cheek and Mateo Kovacic this year.
Brighton signed Caicedo for £4.5 million from Independente Delle Valle in 2021.
