Numerous disciplines must be used in conjunction with current procedures if progress is to be made. Engineers can work on a variety of projects, including roads, computer chips, and medical equipment. One of the highest-paying professions in the world is engineering. Here are some of the most lucrative engineering jobs in Nigeria if you’re seeking for work as an engineer or thinking about a career in engineering.

The Nigerian Engineering Jobs with the Highest Pay

The following engineering positions pay highly, in no particular order:

1. Oil and Gas Engineering

Oil and gas extraction from subsurface sources is the art and science of petroleum engineering. These engineers use a range of commercial methods and technological advancements to develop extraction strategies that are appropriate for the circumstance. They collaborate closely with other experts to identify efficient methods for securely extracting oil while making sure that all procedures are adhered to. It has one of the highest average yearly salaries of any occupation in Nigeria, coming in at NGN 2,824,000.

2. Electrical Engineering

Electrical engineering is the practice of designing and constructing electrical systems or devices using engineering principles and practices. These engineers create electrical equipment for everything from household items to industrial machinery. They also work on military projects that involve radar and power generators, among other things. In Nigeria, they make NGN 2,300,000 on average yearly.

3. Computer Science

Software engineers create computer programs and software solutions for a variety of applications using engineering principles. These solutions could include everything from straightforward quality-of-life improvements to trickier operational systems. Additionally, they offer the usual testing, quality assurance, and upkeep for these software solutions. The global market is predicted to rise by 11.26% between 2022 and 2030, making applications and software development the best long-term career for any Nigerian interested in engineering. With an annual salary of NGN 1,064,000, it is one of the highest-paying professions in Nigeria.

4. Engineering, Mechanical

When handling, creating, and developing mechanical systems, mechanical engineers thrive. Energy-producing devices include generators, IC engines, steam turbines, and wind turbines. In many public and private buildings, they also have control over other essential machinery like escalators and elevators. Additionally, they maintain various places’ refrigeration and air conditioning systems. They receive an average of NGN 1,360,324 annually.

5. Chemical Engineering

Chemical engineering is the integration of many academic fields into the production of chemicals. To help design industrial processes, they integrate engineering expertise with knowledge of chemistry and physics. Chemical engineers can operate in many different industries, such as those that handle food, medications, and other industrial processes. They make NGN 1,432,720 a year on average.

6. Civil Engineering

Work on infrastructure projects is done by civil engineers. Numerous infrastructure projects are planned, designed, built, maintained, and occasionally managed by them. These can be of any size, from large structures like power plants or dams to little ones like a two-bedroom house. They primarily work on government initiatives including sewage networks, highways, tunnels, and bridges. They may work for private builders and developers, for instance, in the private sector. On average, they receive an NGN 1,155,060 yearly pay.
