President Bola Ahmed Tinubu this Sunday morning, August 4, 2024, demanded an immediate end to the #EndBadGovernance protests which has put the country on edge since Thursday and is scheduled to end on August 10.
“I hereby enjoin the protesters and their organisers to stop any further protests and submit to dialogue, which I have always advocated,” the Nigerian leader said in a nationwide broadcast that started at 7:00 a.m.
Tinubu, who alleged that the campaign has political undertone, commiserated with the families of those who have died in the course of the protests. “We must stop the bloodshed,” he said.
The President also broke his silence on the #IgboMustGo campaign by LagosPedia, which has given Igbos from Nigeria’s South-East up to the end of this month to leave Lagos and the entire South-West for undisclosed offences.
“For those who have taken advantage of this situation to threaten any ethnic group, the law will catch up with you,” Tinubu said, as he enjoined law enforcement agencies to continue to protect innocent citizens.
