The remains of Aduke Ajayi, a Nigerian gospel musician, popularly known as ‘Aduke Gold’, has been laid to rest amidst weeping, wailing.
Aduke Gold was buried on Friday, August 23, 2024, at her Ikorodu resident after a burial service held in the African church primary school, Ogba area of Lagos State.
The gospel snger passed away on August 12 at the University College Hospital in Ibadan, Oyo state, where she was receiving treatment for cervical cancer.
The funeral rites were marked by emotions as many eulogised and paid tributues to the deceased.
During the burial service, tributes were paid to Aduke Gold, with many stating her contributions and impact on the gospel music scene.
Her elder brother, Aderounmu Ajayi, a cleric, who spoke to journalists at the event said that contrary to reports suggesting her death was due to fibroid surgery, she died of cervical cancer.
He urged the public to pray for the family and respect their grief during this difficult time.
Gold ventured into music as far back as the mid-2000s but started to gain traction after the release of ‘Nitori Ogo’, which means “Because of Glory”, in 2021.
The song which was from the same-titled album earned her massive streams and popularity, especially on social media.
She studied History and International Studies at Lagos State University (LASU).
Gold earned a degree in Child Psychology and a diploma in Montessori Education from the United Kingdom.
She worked with children with special needs such as autism, dyslexia, and cerebral palsy.
Gold battled with vertigo, which caused frequent fainting spells. It was a constant challenge she faced while pursuing her music career.
