Some shops with goods worth millions of naira were destroyed in a Tuesday late-night fire that occurred when a gas tanker caught fire along the Agbado Road in the Toyin area of Ifako Ijaiye Local Government Area of Lagos State.

The gas explosion was said to have occurred on Oguns street.

The incident created panic as resident of the area scuttled to safety.

Ibrahim Farinloye, Territorial Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), who confirmed the incident however urged People around Iju Ishaga to calm down and avoid panic.

Farinloye said the gas explosion at Oguns Street, Balogun Bus stop and that it had been brought under complete control by officials of the Lagos State Fire Service.

“It was reported that a store with cooking gas cylinder exploded. It occurred the restoration of electricity to the area.

Fire Service have brought the situation under control completely,” he said.
