FIFA U-20 WWC: Falconets lose to Japan, crash out of tournament

The Falconets of Nigeria have bowed out of the ongoing FIFA U20 Women’s World Cup in Colombia after losing to Japan.

The Danjuma-led team lost to Japan by 2 goals to 1, with Olushola Sobowale scoring a consolation goal later in the encounter through a well-laid Goodness Osigwe’s cross into the box.

However, Nigeria tried to add a second to take the match into extra time, it was already late as Japan ran off winners.

It’s another devastating end to a campaign for the Falconets who have not gone past this round since they lost in the finals to Germany in 2014.
