Details have emerged on how Mr. Olabode Agusto, the founder of Agusto & Co, a leading Credit Rating Agency in Africa died.
Recall, THE WITNESS reported that the economist died on Thursday at the age 68 years.
Giving more details on the development, the family, in a statement on Thursday said Agusto died in the early hours of Thursday in the Algarve, Portugal after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.
“He was surrounded by his wife, children and grandchildren,” the statement said.
The family said he would be interred in Portugal according to Islamic rites while prayers and a memorial service will hold in Lagos in due course.
Details of all funeral rites would be communicated in the coming days, the family said.
The late Agusto was the founding Managing Director of Agusto & Co. A Chartered Accountant with over three decades of work experience in both the private and public sector, he was an Assistant Vice President in Citibank Nigeria, a Partner in PwC, and served as Director-General and Adviser (Budget Matters) during President Olusegun Obasanjo administration.
Agusto also served as a non-Executive Director of the National Pension Commission (PenCom), the Shell Nigeria Pension Fund and a member of the Monetary Policy Committee of the Central Bank of Nigeria.
He was an alumnus of the University of Lagos, where he bagged a degree in Accounting.
