The four women abducted by bandits in Zamfara state six months ago have regained freedom.
Recall that the bandits abducted the four women six months ago and threatened to forcefully marry them off if they failed to pay N12 million ransom.
Speaking to PUNCH on the phone, a mother to one of the girls who preferred anonymity said the women were released by bandits and were currently under the care of the security agents receiving medical treatment.
She maintained that the victims were yet to be reunited with their families.
She said, “The security agents called me and told me that my daughter has been rescued from the bandits and is under their care.
“I even spoke with my daughter on the phone who confirmed to me that, they are being treated in a hospital”.
Efforts to get a comment from the spokesperson of the state police command SP Yazid Abubakar proved abortive as he could not be reached on the phone.
Meanwhile, a counter terrorists expert, Zagalola Makama announced on his Twitter page that four women have been released.
Makama added that they were in the hospital undergoing medical checkups.
He said, “These abducted women have reportedly regained their freedom from armed bandits in Zamfara”
