A young photographer, Nicholas, has finally regained his freedom after spending 10 months in Keffi Prison for allegedly insulting his boss, Oluwole Mike, a politician and owner of Pesther Photostudio in Abuja.
Nicholas’ ordeal began in October 2023 when he resigned from his role as a photographer in Mike’s studio via a text message, which his boss deemed “insulting”. The police charged him with “intentional insult” and locked him up, with a bail sum of N100,000, later reduced to N50,000, which Nicholas couldn’t afford.
Despite Mike withdrawing the charge two weeks ago, Nicholas remained in prison until a Good Samaritan donated N50,000 anonymously to secure his release.
